The Court of Appeal has announced that the long awaited judgement on the Backto60 case covering 3.8 million women who had to wait up to six years for their delayed pension will be made on September 15.
The judgement will be delivered by email to the two claimants on behalf of BackTo60 campaign and the Department for Work and Pensions. The judgement will be put on the judiciary website.

The decision will be on the merits of whether the DWP handled the policy change properly and whether the women suffered discrimination not on the merits of the plight of the women.
If the judges decide that there were faults in the system the women will have won and be entitled to compensation. If they decide that the DWP acted properly within the law they will lose.
The case has received the attention of three of the most powerful judges in the Court of Appeal.
They are the Master of the Rolls, 69 year old Sir Terence Etherton; Lord Justice Sir Nicholas Underhill, 68, and Lady Justice Dame Vivien Rose,60.
The DWP engaged Sir James Eadie known as the ” Treasury devil” – one of the most powerful lawyers employed by the government, to argue their case.
BackTo60 brought in Michael Mansfield, one of the leading human rights lawyers as part of their team.

Hope justice is done and thank you for all your hard work. I didn’t realise the injustice of this issue until it hit me directly. Still having to work after more than 40 years full time employment. Still paying NI. Then learning that girls were discriminated at the 11 +exam by having a higher pass mark than boys. I’m 64 now and was unaware of the impact changing the pension age would have on me and can’t remember any advice being given. We should automatically been advised to take out another pension and start saving even on our meagre salaries. I’m a nurse and it was only in 2004 that we were awarded even a half decent salary and it’s still not brilliant now for all the young folk. But then why would it be ? It’s still regarded as women’s work!

I am the same I have been a nurse all my working life. I am 63. Trying to work as a nurse but physically and mentally exhausting now. Let’s just hope justice is served to us. The forgotten ones. X

Well girls.. I’ve made it the extra 6 years only to be positive for Covid on my last week at work. What a way to finish. I’m so scunnered that it has been such a long wait to get . The pension I have worked and paid full NI contributions for 50 years. I will receive my first pension payment in november, 16 days after my 66th birthdsy.. I have no doubt that we have been cheated and the powers that be know it.. however t they have our money and all the power. Such it’s life.

I think its a very honest comment to make saying this appeal should never have had to go to court ,its in black and white that our pensions were stolen from us after paying 42 years of national insurance and working all my life from the age of 15 and bringing up my 3children ,i am 66 this year and still having to work will illness ,could never afford to pay a private pension and will have to survive on £700pm , most men have got work pensions as well ,

I pray that justice will be served. I retired thinking i was getting my pension at 60 after working 37 years, paying full tax and national insurance. I was not notified that i had to wait till i was 66 for my pension, i was told by DWP when i rang to see the amount i would be recieving. I have been too ill to work but refused disablement benefit as i could wash and feed myself, it didn’t matter about my pain. I have been soley dependant on my husbands pension and part time wage for the last 6 years. He has had cancer but having to support us both was unable to give up work himself. If i had been informed of the change i could have made provisions. Life has been so difficult financially, i hope this will be rectified by the court.

Raising the age from 60 to 66 should have been phased in OVERTIME
Anything else would be harsh and outright robbery and cheating against the poor women involved. It is a great miscarriage of injustice.

If I’m honest I know us 50 women want get what we are due to! I’ve had to give work up because of the fact my body was giving in on me I’ve bought 5 children up who are working hard and paying there taxes I’ve worked paid my dues my husband who is 2 years older than my works hard and pays his taxes thing is I carnt claim anything and because my husband is older than me for two years we will any have his pension to live off please tell me is this really fair when there are no jobs for the younger generations but they are given money from our government

If any of those Who moved the goal posts on our pensions ( that we worked for) not once but several times, have a conscience about how there decision did they think about the affect that it would have on people.
I myself might never know what it is like to share my retirement with my partner as he has
been diagnosed with T4 prostate cancer
Because of the age change for me to get my pension I am still at work and my partner was
Given 3 years to live which is where he is now and I still have a year to work.
So I don’t know if I’m going to have a retirement with him.

We wsited from January to have only a phone contact with a cardiologist on Fri 4/9/20. It is like we are being written off because we are older. He is 68 and I almost 65. I have always worked to in nursing, midwifery and health visiting. I feel we are being written off because we are older. Many people won’t get their well deserved pension at this rate. 🙏🏻❤️ Xx

yES, stand firmly and have supported my sisters for a long time and also many men and their wives also have a double whammy in that both affected by the diabolical and discriminatory frozen pension issue and an issue only been going on for now 71 years.

Please God, let them see sense – give ys our State Pension to live on. Let us retire & give our jobs to the young, allowing us to look after grandchildren meaning parents can work without massive childcare costs – paying more in tax & spending in local economy. I hope that the Back260 win their case. I am one of those 1950s women. I should have had my pension at 60 then it was 63 it was moved again to 65, and on my 65th birthday last May I was told, I had to wait until January 2020. Another 8 months!. I NEVER had any notification from the DWP about any of the above until I queried why, I could not draw my pension from my 65th birthday. To be told I had to wait 8 months was a huge “kick”! I have lost £47,000 + by not having my pension from age 60 to 65 and a further £5,600 by not having my pension at age 65 and not getting it until I was 65 and 8 months. I have worked fulltime for 40odd years and paid a full NI contributions and tax. Us 1950z women have been discriminated against, we’ve suffered hardship and health problems and financial hardship, because of the incompetence of this Government and the governments that have gone before it and st the hands of the DWP for its failure to notify us 1950s women. We have all worked hard and long in jobs where there were no company pension schemes and with low pay so that making contributions to a personal pension was unaffordable! We deserve compensation for all the wrongs we’ve been dealt..

When I left school and started to work I was young and fresh, but now I’m old and arthritic, I will work if you force me to, but what about all the kids that need my job. In hospital they would call me a bed blocker. I feel like a job blocker. Please, I’ve done my bit, let me have some peacetime before I die.

Every part of me is praying the decision goes in our favour i maybe a young member of this group of 62yrs. My body is knackered, osteo arthritis. Lower back pain, anxiety and depression. The majority of women in this group when they were working only worked part time as in the 80/90’s looked after their children and husband. We didn’t earn enough to pay into a private pension and won’t advised to do so.🙏🙏🙏🙏

From 2013 onwards I always joined in campaigns trying to get pension age 60 back for women.
I was Pension 60 Now / Pension Credit 60 Now from 2013 myself, which turned into Grey Swans once the Backto60 legal case began in 2017.
For 1970s born who will be turning 60 in 2024 general election, and 1980s born who will be turning 50 in 2024 general election (Grey Swans campaign includes reverting to early works pension age 50, and full works pension at 50 for manual workers).

Informed AFTER I had retired, kids and I lost home, they have had a horrendous childhood because of this-there was no impact assessment for the children of these women! 3 years of hell we have suffered plus injury for working in occupations we are too old and tired for and anxiety and depression from not being able to pay our way and live properly ,with no heating; little food and no quality of life, debts mounted to £20,000. So cruel and uncaring! Thank you for your efforts on our behalf.

30 year old ‘men’ think they know everything and have no qualms about voicing their opinions and more. Respect they have none. Spend most of the day on their phones and goggling random sites.
They are our future God Help Us.
They certainly broke the mould when they made us 50’s women.

Sadly I think our needs/rights will be pushed to one side as a result of the vast additional expenditure COVID has caused. Really hope I am wrong , 62 working full time as a front line social worker , not only is my body giving out but I don’t think I should have to take the daily abuse from disgruntled parents each and everyday at my age.

And don’t forget the £323 a day for MPs and lords for turning up for work .. 650 MPs and 800 lords … that’s a lot of money… so the money is there .

Secondly to all BackTo60 members, who have wholeheartedly, supported the cause, in whatever way they could.
I hope and pray that the judges have been able to see how the DWP have been negligent in their handling of the policy change. The effects, of how their handling of this policy change has had on 50’s women, has to be considered and also, how this could have been avoided or at the very least reduced. Surely policies of this magnitude should be risk assessed and measures taken to uphold a fair and equitable policy. My thoughts are with all 50’s women who are desperate for our plight to be recognised.

This is absolutely the most fantastic news, I am a Waspii, I was born in 1956, I live alone, have seriously struggled financially since taking early retirement at 60 years of age, I have a part time job working 15 hours a week, which on minimum wage is extremely difficult. I have always found it to be so unfair without any warning what so ever this pension was just stripped from me when millions of other women who were just a few years older than me have had what would amount to be Thousands of pounds that I have never been fortunate to have received, how can there be any justice in that!
I hope and prey that justice will prevail and I sincerely would like to thank everyone concerned that has fought our corner for justice in this case.
I truly hope September 15th will be the most fantastic day of celebrations for all the three point eight million women to which I am one!

Feel like it’s to late for me 64 years old so wanted to be able to stop work at 60 husband was10 years older than me so wanted some retirement together instead kept having to work 42 hours a week. On th 28th of April my son died and on the 29th of april my husband died iv been on ferlow but have to go back to work on tuesday failing health but have to go feel like I’m walking through mud every step I take. Please sort it and give my job to someone younger give the younger generation a chance of making a living for themselves

Now more than ever young people need employment. Letting 50’s women retire with their pensions would open up massive employment opportunities for so many in the UK. Money being paid in unemployment benefits would be reduced and having grandparents free to help with childcare would also be hugely beneficial to working parents who are struggling . I really hope that common sense prevails by those involved in making the final decision.

A huge thank you to everyone, alot of people don’t understand how the theft of our pensions has affected our daily lives and that of our families. After working from the age of 15yrs and always paying in we are not asking for anything that isn’t already ours. The government waste so much on other projects and there own pensions we only want what is already ours . Thank you again.

This Goverment clearly do not care, have very little compassion in their hearts and are more concerned about themselves, ensuring they receive pay rises and ways to claim back expenses on travel, hotel accommodation with lots of them owning more than one property whilst we try to survive and to keep manual jobs going and existing on minimum wage having to wrap up indoors to keep warm with no heating on to ensure we can pay the rent or mortgage to keep the roof over our head and going to visit friends or family has to be less often because you cannot afford the bus fare never mind the opportunity to accept any invitation to join friends for a meal out even if it is half price. So many our age suffer from a number of health conditions that cause chronic pain and or fatigue so have poor mobility and have been made redundant during the Covid crises and aren’t being employed when applying for jobs. The goverment are not investing any money to employers to ensure we are employed as they are our young people nor are they creating jobs we can physically manage to maintain yet they made it harder to be assessed as entitled for DLA . Life could and ought to be so much easier than it is for us all at our time of life but no they have us waiting a extra 6 years more than we expected to have our pension.
Maybe we need to take to the streets in mass proportion before they will admit how unfairly we have been treated, I hope not.
God help us all, we need and deserve justice to be done on the 15th !

Its been a long hard,emotional 6 years since I found out we wouldn’t have our pensions till 66 years of age. 92,000 women have died before/without getting theirs, how many more of us will die before we get ours!!! All of us have worked hard, some like me since we were 15yrs old. I had to retire from 60yrs due to shoulder injuries/operations. For the first time in my life I have to depend on someone else, to feed/clothe/help me. I love my husband dearly but i feel I’ve lost all my independence. MAY JUSTICE BE ON OUR SIDE FOR ONCE IN OUR LIVES

Thank you for your due diligence for the50’s women. I have brought up two children from 1981 as a single mum. Sometimes having to take them with me to work due to lack of child care. I also cared for my elderly mother for six years who suffered a stroke when I was 58 yrs old. I was still working. I was born in 1953 and missed the retirement age of 60 by 4 months. My mother died in 2016 and I was still working. I am 67 and still working I did not receive my pension till I was 64 and 5 months. Pwhich is a pittance in comparison to other leading countries in the world. Let’s hope that there will be changes to our society on the 15th September. Let the young people take our places and give them hope for the future. Thanks for all ur hard work on this case. 👍😊

I was born August 1952 therefore I am one of the ladies affected , may only have been 2 years 6 months later than my pension should have been due but I was left without money having had to give a 25 year jobs with Bradford Metro council to look after my terminally I’ll husband , when he passed away I was not on pension and went for several jobs but when they found out that my pension was due in a couple of years when I became 62 1/2 years old I was overlooked thinking I would be leaving . This was demoralising as I had always worked and paid full class stamp for my pension in my own right as my husband died at 62 not having recieved his own pension so no help from him was forth coming . This resulted in me for the p2and half years living on the poverty line , £34 per week plus rent , I found this insulting and very very hard , I had always worked .please please all us working ladies need some justice.

Let’s hope we win. I have worked since leaving school only had a break when I had my 3 children and returned to work when youngest was 12 months old as I had to to survive. Worked in the private sector and no company pensions available and private I could not afford. As soon as I could I started a company pension I was aged 29yrs old but could only afford to put a small amount in as my wages were low. I have continued to work until February this year when I was made redundant after 24yrs loyal service with the company. I worked even though I found it hard due to disability. Now at 61 cant even get a job keep trying but with my disability limits me. Will keep trying. Women have never been treated fairly in the work place and some companies take advantage of this. The government have not helped women at all. They definitely should not be allowed to do this until they bring into law that a company cannot just dump Women and men when their bodies are struggling with their current jobs. Now living off my meager private pensions, which I have been forced to take due to no income when Coronavirus hit us and some savings which I was putting away for my retirement. Hope the judges see how unfair this is to women and justice prevails.

When it comes to whether this grossly unfair situation should be considered by eminent Appeal Judges, of course it should. There was no other way to do this other than to challenge the 1995, 2007, 2011 Pension Act using a Judicial Review.
There were a number of communication methods which the Conservative government could have used to notify the cohort of Women adversely affected by the State Pension changes. It has come to light that Peter Lilley consciously took the decision to deny Women the right to plan for their retirement, others too from other political parties did nothing to remedy this injustice.
We are looking forward to an independent judgment from the finest minds. Please do not let us down.

Thank you so much David for your relentless investigative journalism. The things we’ve learnt about how all parties are responsible for the injustice we’ve experienced and calling it equality. All parties should hold their heads in shame. I’m 62 with 47 years NI contributions, it’s time I handed the working baton to the younger generation. I’ve completed my obligation to fund the Pension pot for the pensioners before me, now it’s my turn to retire. I have hope in our justice system and that the result on the 15th will be in our favour. I would like to pay my respects to the two ladies that have fought this injustice in the public eye. Thank you

The government seem to think our pension is a gift, it is not I have worked for 48 years and still working even thought in great pain from arthritis. It’s time to let the younger people have our jobs. Thank you to everyone who have been fighting for the 50’s ladies.

The financial,emotional and physical burden has grossly impacted on the lives of the 1950’s women(myself included).

If they have come to a decision already then it seems they already had the result before the court break. cant help feeling slightly suspicious as this seems very quick as though they have already dismissed a lot of arguments put forward. I hope that justice is done as women born in the 50’s have been treated appallingly,alot living on next to nothing and with ill health! It has ruined alot of lives. It’s not about the age increase..it’s about the way it’s been done. I’m 63 and was told to shield re my copd and I can’t return to work for another 3 years! It would kill me off now I think.

Im wondering whether the NI paid to men to make up theirs pensions will be considered. I know the findings were made after the appeal?

I am appalled at all these comments we should never have been pushed aside like second rate citizens.
We make up the bones of society.
I’m all for fairness but this and previous governments are ruthless in lining their own pension pots with our hard earned money.
Even the new work based pension is wrong. The higher your salary the more it’s matched. Sadly I am in the lower income bracket compared to my male colleagues. Although I am older and worked since 16.
The pay scale for women always lower. I know this is fact as I do wages.
Being part of a team makes no difference. Just a number. I work as hard am loyal and a woman in an all male company. 36 years. That means absolutely jack shit.
Officially retire tomorrow and 66 on the 14th September.

They changed the age of retirement after many women had already chosen their retirement options for their pension. I retired at 55, took a lump sum and smaller pension. AFTER this the age of retirement was changed and another 6 years added, which meant that my money would not last and I had to return to work. This resulted in injury to my hands, having been typing since I was 15. I had two operations, and was finally ill health retired as I suffer so much pain. I still do not have my state pension, but plenty of debt. I would not have taken a lump sum, I would have taken the option of a larger rising pension, to sustain me over the extra years if proper notice was given of the additional years being added to our retirement. This is like selling a 10 year insurance policy, then saying it has to run for 20 years instead. It is wrong, it must be unlawful and we were not given the proper amount of notice about the changes.
To all the people involved in the appeal on behalf women of the 50s, we must say a big ‘THANK YOU’ for a fantastic effort.

I am 63 and for the last three years I have been wishing my life away to get to 66 so that I can have some quality of life and financial security. I had to work an extra 3 8 months before claiming for my pension. I was in a rented property price of 5 50 pounds per month my wages were 900 per month out goings were 850 per month in total ..hence the debt I had ecumalated. And still trying to catch up .no savings. .brought up three children on low wages all my life .I’m 67 now .devorced and live alone .it’s not fair that we over 50s should suffer

Thank you to the Back to 60 team for all your hard work. I paid in for 47 years and women were rarely invited to join work pensions schemes when I started work in 1970 so I only have a very small pension on top of the state pension that I am now finally receiving after the date was moved twice. The second time with no notice. I agree that men and women should retire at the same age now but the way 1950’s born women have been treated is so unfair. What happened to all that money I paid in? I feel that I have been robbed and I hope justice will prevail.

Two close friends, one born November 1953,(received her pension on her 60th birthday)one January 1954 (received hers at 65yrs ).Myself 11/06/54 received pension in March as 66yrs in June.
Not even have we been cheated but also have male friends who on turning 65yrs in May or June the same year as us drew their pension straight away. Thought it was all about making it fair. To do this is prejudice against women.

It’s been a long hard battle faught by our modern day Suffragettes. I’m proud of EVERY ONE who has faught so gallantly and with such dignity. There would have been riots in other circumstance. The injustices on women is historic and it is now just a waiting game. STAY STRONG GIRLS this fight is not only for 50’s women, but for our future generations. The government won’t stop here if they win. They will Rob us all to the grave and beyond.

Thank you all so much for your efforts and dedication in your supporting backto60. I am also a women born in the 50’s and at this stage of my life I am disabled, diabetic, and financially destitute. For over five years now I have been struggling to find employment, with no benefits help or support. I am desperately trying to get employment, distressed,depressed,without enough money to live on. I hope a healthy decision will be made in support of people like myself on the 15th September. Just to update you I have applied for many jobs,and one manager stated to me over the phone ,after discussing my experience with him, stated, I will not be likely to get a job because of my age. Well, there is shit in your face on top of all of the discrimination with age, government war on disabled persons and unfair government cuts. Now we have the added problem of the Coronavirus. Please help us get back the dues.

After listening to the appeal live I can’t pretend that I unstood all the legal jargon so I’m unsure which way this will go, but I do hope & pray that it is a win for us 1950s ladies. I would like to thank everyone that has worked tirelessly for all us ladies it’s been a long hard slog for everyone, this government have no idea what they have done to us so remember that the next time they want your vote.

It’s been amazing to follow this process, as a 50s woman who felt hopeless, I gained a degree of hope with Back to 60.
With no warning, the pension I was relying on to make ends meet, was withheld and no time to make plans. Such an unfair act, putting it mildly.
No words can explain the confusion and helplessness that followed. Not to mention the financial hardship which goes without saying.
Back to 60 has been a light in a dark place.

Thank you for the update. I hadn’t appreciated there would be such s long wait for a decision. This gross injustice to all women affected is not righted by making us equal to men by 66, 67, 68, 69, or 70. Women have historically been often much more socio-economically disadvantaged than men. It begins as babies and by school age, girls take up less space than boys. It is harder to succeed all round. Less chance of school and exam success unless we’re educated separately. Less chance of getting to university, and generally in much lower paid roles, often caring roles. These need valuing. With money and respect. We have lesser pensions, if any, because of pregnancy, childcare, looking after disabled or frail famy members, fitting work around school times, school holidays, aged parents, etc. Then we deal with the menopause and associated challenges. Discrimination for one thing. This brings me full circle. And now we have the younger generation in need of jobs, some of whom have never worked, through no fault of their own. What are governments doing about this? Money is found for HS 2 and now it needs to be found to prioritise all women over 60 who are affected, to fully back pay them if they’d prefer to retire,and make up their NI contributions if they are lacking , like they did for men retiring EARLY. We are retiring LATE. Open up jobs for younger people with the gaps that are made in the market. Right the wrong this way. That brings more equality to men and women.
Thank you for campaigning, for raising awareness and for making such valid points. I’ve missed half of them out. It’s such an insidious cruel method of discrimination. I agree. Here’s to justice and equality.

Like so many others I hope that justice will prevail. I would like to thank Michael Mansfield, Backto60 and all the other groups who have fought this terrible pension robbery for so long now. I have been a member of many groups and have fought this for nearly 6 years now. I started to receive my own State Pension in November last year, I was 65 and 7 months old. I have battled breast cancer recently and even carried on my work as a dance teacher throughout the cancer battle and the pensions battle. I was kind of determined to “get there”, although there were many times when I feared I would not. I believe that almost 90,000 women have sadly passed away before they were able to receive their pensions. This has been a scandalous injustice and has bought misery to so many of us. I feel we have been picked on. If we had been men, things may have happened differently. “They” saw us as weak. How wrong they are. We have fought hard and have never given up. Good luck to everyone.

I remember the shock I felt when I discovered that I would not be receiving my pension at 60. I was made redundant from my civil service job at The age of 58 when the office shut and until I queried my pension with our human resource team, I was completely unaware of the change. I do not ever recall having received notification that I would have to wait does 5 then 6 extra years . It is inconceivable to me that had I been notified of this egregious move to deny me what I have worked for all my adult life, I would simply have stood by and let it happen. I am so grateful to the team that have taken up this cause and fought so long and hard for . I feel as if holding a work ethic and contributing to the economy paying tax and having my savings eroded to make ends meet has at the end of my useful working life been met with a stealthy kick in the teeth.

Surely it’s clear that theDWP did not handle the changes,ie the increase in the pension age for women, properly.How many women actually received notification of this change as soon as it was agreed by Parliament? Ray Watt, Dunfermline. Firstly thank you to the whole team for their efforts. Like all others finding it difficult , I’m almost 65 after over 37 years Contributions feel discriminated against. If I was a refugee just arrived in U.K. I would be given more assistance . Over my working career never claimed benefits and had to rely on my husband for the last 5 years . However he is now 70 , had three major operations and a stroke . We should be in a position to enjoy retirement.
During the impact of Covid the government has reviewed the situation of nearly every group of people but Not…our age group.
How can they justify giving Aid of £300 million to India and £100 million to China, Surely uK citizens should be the priority. Yesterday in the mail, the CEO of Aegon commented on the DWPs screw up with lack of communication for our group.
Let’s hope we receive a positive outcome.

My financial advisor (St James Place) was still including my state pension in my forecast in 2013 when I was 59 years old. They didn’t know, and they are one of the largest financial investment companies in the country. I have asked for evidence of disclosure to them from DWP and it has never happened , because they weren’t told. ?? I think this is one of the avenues that needs exploring

Like most women in this group I am not looking for all to be recouped but something for the hardship mentally ,physically and financially. During my working life I gave juggled caring for children then my elderly parents and latterly my sick husband who passed away 3 years ago thus leaving me to sail completely solo and having to become entirely responsible for all financial aspects. I just need to be able to stop now and have my state pension so I can live a little albeit carefully but not having to get up at 4.30 every morning to commute to work and to return home at around 9pm totally exhausted and afraid that I might just keel over! Please let there be justice. Thank you for all your hard work on our behalf aswell as fighting for your own rights.

State Pension payment is unequal.between Men & Women born in 1952 …Why ?
Men are on the new Higher Rate £175 a week
Women on the old Lower Rate £135 a week .I thought all this change was to make things equal ? Apparently not !

I’m with you on this I was born Dec 1952 and like you have missed out on the new Higher State Pension ..I was not warned about this ..It was never brought to my attention .Friends who I started school and work with are on the Higher Rate £40 a WEEK MORE ! Its a disgrace and a double whammy for us . What’s worse ,is Men born the same year as me are on the New Higher Rate …and its all supposed to make us equal ..which of course is a joke x

Why do we have to wait until the 15th like naughty children? that’s what I would like to know and, it does not bode well I fear. Its being handed down electronically for gods sake so they already know their decision, don’t they??
The parliamentary ombudsman , notice the end of the word, man.
They have been looking at 6 sample cases re us 1950s women since October 2018 for Compensation.
Everything is completely stacked against us.
Sorry. But thats what I now feel about the whole sorry debacle.

I’ve have read most of the comments that the women at 60 years age on how there energy and what illnesses have affected them to witch I’m 60 years of age and I no that my physical energy is not the same as to what is was. Hopefully all your hard work will be paid of. Good luck.

Why are we waiting again for a Judgement?
Surely they know the outcome now.
Is there a 1950s woman in the basement of the courts typing with her arthritic fingers before they tell her that she’s wasting her time.
Why is the Parliamentary Ombudsmen still looking at a sample of 6 woman since October 2018 for compensation.
Personally I gave given up.
I’m so tired of being under the thumb of privileged males.

I remember at the last judicial review the judge said there was nothing in law that say we have to be informed of any changes to the pension age, so I am a little worried about the outcome of the appeal especially if they have to go by the law. I do understand that this is about discrimination against women which we have had considering that 9.8 million men have free auto credits for 5 years added to there pension and women did not, so if we do not win on the 15th September then there is no justice and this is definitely decrimination.

I really hope that some justice is forthcoming for all us 1950s women who have been very badly treated throughout this whole process. We have been discriminated against all of our working lives. Things are much better for younger working women now, they are able to join work pension schemes, their jobs have to be kept open when they have a baby and in a lot of jobs there is actually positive discrimination giving jobs to women who simply would not have got them in our day. Lets us pray that September 15th 2020 is a day to celebrate, but I have to confess I do not think it will go in our favour, I truly hope I am wrong

50s women stayed at home to look after children and keep house while their husbands were the breadwinner.the ones that worked could only do jobs with very low wages and had to be back in for the children coming back in from school and their husbands coming from work .
It would make more sense if 50s women were allowed to retire and make room for the younger generation to take the jobs the 50s women are forced to take. Please do the right thing

I am 66 brought up 2 children on my own following divorce, penalised as stayed at home to look after them till old enough to be ”key holders”, so didnt pay NI contributions. No idea about the 11+ pass gender grades, disgraceful.
Cannot afford to finish work, cannot survive on £700 a month.
Penalised for being born female, is descrimination, a life time of discrimination, it must be put right.

Thank you Back to 60 and all the other groups who have fought so hard for justice for all of us. I know I am not the same anymore and feel my job should be done by a younger person. I am 65 this December and am worn out with a stressful job, an ill husband and 2 older boys (who are young men now and still not financially I dependent) on the autistic spectrum. I certainly did not get a letter about the increase in pension age. We have had a real injustice. I really hope and pray for a good outcome 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🍀 xx

I worked 12 hour shifts care giving which exasperated a neurological condition I suffer from. My job of 10 years let me go because I was ill and in a great deal of pain. At 64 years of age I found myself on benefits for the first time in my life. I had worked for 49 years and was rewarded with £73.10 after waiting 8 weeks to get paid. Our treatment has been so unfair and I got no notification that I could not retire at 60 as I was led to believe.

There was no mass campaign to inform women of the pension changes. The governments could and should have instigated a huge media campaign to ensure women were clearly informed of the new pension dates and how the changes would affect them. They could have also provided guidance and support to women who would be most affected by these changes. To have informed us properly was probably deemed too expensive!
I will be 65 in November and will have to wait a further year till I receive my pension.
I too have worked from 16 years of age and paid full NI contributions.
The decision is just common sense the government did NOT inform us adequately!

I was 58 when I found out through a work colleague after taking voluntary redundancy I’m afraid I just accepted I would have to wait. I was told the changes 18 months before they changed, To get by having just been unofficially widowed ( we weren’t married and our 38 years doesn’t count) and losing my job when I was 57 I used part of my private pension to get by assuming at 60 I’d get state pension . I am 62 now massively in debt because I was relying on that money coming in at 60

The stories above are heart-breaking. But this decision will simply be a matter of law and we all know that has absolutely nothing to do with justice (it’s simply a game lawyers, barristers and judges play in the hope of outsmarting their opponents). The decision seems to rest on: did they steal our money and breach contracts of 4 decades standing using the correct process? Who writes the laws and who decides the process? The Government! Given the incompetence and lies we have seen during the Covoid crisis, it is not beyond belief that they did not follow the process they decided on or correctly cover their backs in this act of outright theft. I have supported this action on principles of decency and humanity and the hope that laws which apply to commercial organisations would be applied to our totally dishonest, thieving government. I suspect I will actually be worse off for a number of years if this is sucessful, (as I never trusted the government and relied on commercial organisations who simply followed suit and raised the pension age to 65) but I do hope that this action is sucessful – the indecent discrimination against a group of vulnerable women when men’s NI was being paid is insupportable. I can only commend the whole team, legal and otherwise, for working so hard and sticking with this for so long. Bravo!

As a woman who lost her pension at 60yrs the Government changed the goal post saving 5.1 billion per year stealing the pension from 1950s women the 2014 woman’s pension Act states the government must give a minimum of 10 years notice of pension age change this clearly didn’t happen so lawfully they broke the 2014 Act of law.

Also hoping and praying we will get a decent compensation- I had an endowment mortgage so got ‘done’ on that; I’ve downsized twice in the last 7 years and have only just managed to retire after 44 years of teaching. I couldn’t afford to pay into my pension over most of my time as I was left to bring up 2 children by myself and I was not prepared for them to ‘go without’ I’m very proud of how I’ve managed but I’m left with a retirement of not being able to afford any ‘pleasures in life’ and still a lot of money outstanding on a credit card, but I am blessed with a loving family. I know I’m better off than many but compensation would help so much. Please, please let it be a positive outcome for us.

My Retirement came last Sunday 6th September 2020, 6 years later that it should have been, still have to wait to get my first payment, on 25th.
I worked for DWP at the time we were meant to have been told that we couldn’t retire at 60, never received any notification letter.
Hope they rule in our favour we’ve waited long enough for justice.

Thank you so much to absolutely everyone that has helped us 50s women, we felt so alone and abandoned, but you have us the will to fight for what was already ours, I am 66 in October and have had 6 long years trying physically and mentally to carry on working full time, I had to give in to my body and went down to part time, even then it was a struggle, I have thyroid trouble and fibromyalgia which can be crippling and the medication made me drowsy, so I couldn’t take it at work but that was where I needed it the most, I got my date today of the first pension payment 16th October, I felt an enormous weight had been lifted off of me, but sadly like many other wonderful women I am well past trying to enjoy a retirement, instead I will at least have some where near to peace of mind

I am 61 and retired early at 60 due caring for my mum and my own poor health the latter not meeting the ‘all work rule’ to qualify for an ill health pension. Consequently I lost a percentage of my Occupational Pension after paying into it for 38 years and retiring as a senior manager in adult social care. Rewarding work but relatively poorly paid compared to senior roles in sectors which are male dominted! Waiting until I am 66 for state pension !

I hope justice will prevail. There was such a devastating affect (I was affected for 4 years.) No thought was ever given to my generation of women and very little notification( or none in many cases.) This government keep raising the pension age including men’s also with no notice given to them because they want you to die before you reach retirement age then they don’t have to pay out and it’s more money in the pot for them to raid, and they keep saying it’s because people are living longer well they are not, if they say it often enough they will believe it.
I am trying to be really positive about the appeal result and I am hoping for a win but unfortunately only 35% of appeals are successful even though we had a world class legal team I’m not that sure it will go out way.
I did watch the appeal and I got the impression that the judges thought it was just our bad luck,like I say I do want us to win but it is extremely hard to overturn a decision that has been made by other judges.

I must remain thinking positively. I had to give up work due to ill health. My mother was diagnosed,with cancer and I was her carer. Within a few months my husband was also diagnosed with pancreatic cancer leaving me in a mess. Husband pension was only income. I then had stress and depression which led to a heart attack.this year was the final straw with myself being disabled and not getting benefits for my husband or myself.i am with the majority that if woman can get out of their jobs the younger generation could fill them and give them a chance to get on the property ladder etc. know hope that I don,t have to sit in tears wondering what is to happen next.
Can anybody answer this question? What happens to our pensions if we are deceased before payout. Sorry to be morbid but 90,000 people already gone

Two months to go to 66 – 6 long years. I was never informed by letter in 1995 but did find out somehow that I would be getting my pension age 65 (disgusted at that time)t hen changed to 66 in 2011. I am not hopeful that we will win as although there was discrimination for 50’s women the DWP would have had to have acted unlawfully. How cruel/awful that the DWP would bring in powerful lawyers to try and destroy our case, they do not care that women were not informed, found out just before turning 60 and some are now left in poverty/ill health. Fingers crossed we win.

I’m scared, I was explaining to a friend on Monday, if I get my pension at 66 under current rules I will have to work 1 year longer than my granddaughter who is 44 years younger than me, because I left school at 15 in 1971. They know about this anomaly they still chose to ignore us. I can only pray we get the result that is right and fair.

The judge in first court case stated that equalization of pension age resolved a long standing inequality against men. The many disadvantages faced by women were not recognized by this judgement. These inequalities result in women’s pension pots being only a fraction of those held by most men. The Equality Act fails to protect women, the disabled and many other groups. There is much work to do.

Thank you for fighting this cause I was given written warning my pension would be when I’m 66 it arrived 10 months before my 60th birthday my husband had a senior position on the underground working 24/7 shifts I had to change my jobs to fit in with my children as did most women of my generation. I hope the judges can see how unfair this is.

Now women pay same rate of national insurance as men but in the 50s it was a reduced rate as we women during 70 s with children could only work part time we didn’t have the luxury of nurseries and childminders si readily available so how can they say we have same retirement age as men fir that era when we didn’t have the same rights keep up the good work hope this is sorted more jobs fir the young and fitter and no need to claim benefits

60s women have not only worked but had children which takes it’s toll on our bodies we should have our pension backdated if we have to wait any longer we will be dead if you apply for PIP and you are 65 you can’t get the motorbillity component because you are deemed to be a pensioner Different rules

Me too I am almost 65. My life has been hard with an ill husband and two adult boys who are on the autistic spectrum. I am tired too plus have type 2 diabetes but still working 3 days per week in a job that is becoming more and more stressful necessitating lots of home working. I have always worked and have had enough now. We 50s women have had a raw deal. Saying my prayers that if there is a God above he will help us. Well!! I have just read about the discrimination in the eleven plus. My father was so amazed I did not pass that he took it further to contest the result and was told I was border line pass. Does that mean if I was a boy I would have passed and gone to Grammer school!!!! Instead I went to three secondary modern schools but the second one was Bognor Regis comprehensive, where I made my way up to the Grammer stream.. … What does that tell you!! Only to be put back into a secondary modern when through circumstances we moved a third time to surrey. My life could have been so different. My father would not have been disappointed in me. Unfortunately he passed away not knowing this information. I worked full time for forty four not missing one nation insurance payment. In my first job in Barclay’s I was training fast track MALE graduates to do the same job as me only they were on a much higher salary than me!! I was not informed of the delay in getting my pension. How is it equality when my husband who is six years older than me has been using his government pension to support this once independent woman for the last six years. Yep. I was born. In 1954!! All our savings have gone plus a small inheritance and a big chunk out of my husband’s private pension. This is not what we planned. And as for men getting some of their national insurance paid for them so they could get their full pension.. Wow more descrimination!!!
Come on justice system. Give us back to sixty women the compensation we so deserve. We worked hard for a living. I know of one young family now..they have a child. They don’t work. They both get their full rent paid and universal credit..Even without their child benefit they get more money a month than my husband’s government pension and my future government pension put together!!.. Start supporting us!! If I had not gone out to work for forty plus years I could have received all the above benefits for the last six years. Instead my saving for a good retirement have all gone. .. I am nearly 66 years old. Restore my faith in the UK. Let justice be done… Put us 1950’s women back in the financial position we so deserve…

I totally agree with the injustice the 50s ladies have suffered but I am in the same boat but even if you win the case because I was born in 1960 nothing applies to me all for the sake of a couple of months i have a heavy job working for the nhs and no way can I carry on for another 7 years the pension age needs to be reduced back to 60 x

Although I am doing my best to have a small degree of hope with this impending Appeal result I have zero faith in ‘the system’. But we all deserve restitution of our ‘stolen’ money, we deserve fairness and we deserve justice. Back to 60, the Legal Team, David and all the other people who have worked so tirelessly to get us all this far deserve success. Regardless of the result, which if we lose, will be devastating for myself and many others I believe the fight MUST GO ON. The Government MUST NOT be allowed to sit back and feel comfortable if the result goes against us. Whatever form the fight continues, whether it’s through the Supreme Court or through CEDAW we must not disappear. We have all put up with too much to let that happen and too many people have worked too hard. Tuesday at 10.30am will either see Justice finally done or it will signal the time when the new fight starts. So Good Luck to us all.

I believe it was Mr Lilley who decided not to inform us women of the pension age changes, but I received a letter recently telling me to wait for another letter re sending in info to civil service! So two postal charges for something far less important, complete waste of money, one letter would have been adequate. The letters were less than 2 weeks apart- ludicrous – but we weren’t considered at all when massive age rise was looming. I guess he didn’t want a fuss. I can’t sleep and I feel so anxious waiting for Tuesday’s decision, we deserve to win, if not all, a good chunk of it.

I have been working since I was 17years old and I feel this change to the law has badly affected my health. I will still have to top up my pension but at least I would no longer have to work such long hours. Under the current situation I will have spent 50 years working

My husband has just made a very valid point, if the government want to do the right thing and pay us 1950s women back the pension they took from us, he suggests they pay double monthly pension for the amount of years lost as obviously some have lost less than others, I for one of over 3 million will have lost the full 6 years when I turn 66 next April where others older than myself have lost much less.
A very easy solution …….
That said our government have given millions to foriegn aid of which I understand but surely charity should begin at home when your own are suffering as well………………..

Absolutely right Pauline, I feel the same. If the result is such that we lose the Appeal I believe it displays such a sad state of affairs. When you cannot trust the people who hold such power as to have such a huge detrimental effect of millions of womens lives for the sole purpose of saving money. Our stolen money!! We took advice and paid married woman’s national insurance wrong advice but nothing done they are now saying that the younger generation will have no jobs so they’ll put them on benefits and probably have to to pay their rent or interest on mortgages doesn’t it make more sense to just give us our pensions labour say they’ll reinstate it it was them that took it away the government has definitely not thought this through don’t they realise it would save them money in the end

You have only got to look at Covid. All these Politicians spouting about test and trace. 250,000 tests a day where is that happening? Watched programme on BBC last night about test and trace. It was shocking. Then Boris and Hancock thanking the volunteers for their hard work. The lady was so frustrated that no one was able to get on line to help. Over several weeks.
It leaves everyone questioning the governments strategy. As for NHS again I’m sorry to say I feel so sorry for Cancer Patients that are put on hold. Life limiting shocking.
So as for us back to 60 we will never get to the truth because they have shafted the lot of us with deceit, lies and underhand cruelty. Shame on you all, you know who you are.

Your right and as far covid testing my daughter needs test surprise surprise 70 miles away she found 1 nearer so tried to cancel first one apparently they have no way of cancelling appointments so how many people can’t get tested an appointments going to waste and what a surprise her second appointment was at a clinic right in the city centre shambles

Surprised to hear of the 11+ where boys had a lower pass level than girls. I failed the 11+ , which I was expected to pass. Although I was lucky to pass the 12+ and the ratio of girls to boys was 3:1

David a huge thank you for all your efforts. I am a 61 year old cancer patient who has worked and contributed for 42 years. Following 5 months shielding I returned to work full time but fell ill. Currently, I am confined to my bed due to positive coronavirus test with 6 symptoms. Life is difficult right now and I pray the judgement is in our favour. Majority of the women have worked extremely hard throughout their lives and should be given retirement but I am worried we may not get a positive result. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone.

I feel sick to the stomach and have been unable to comment earlier as so upset, I just don’t get it. I know we will vow to fight on but not sure how much fight is left in us, I just wish Labour had won the election and we will have all got something, Boris and his lot will give us nothing, apart from false promises that is, I hate the lot of them. Got to take it to next level. Obviously Judges cannot physically comprehend what’s written in front of them.
Justice system / DWP / Government. You see so many miscarriages of justice in this country this is the biggest one.

The battle on our behalf failed yet again. You worked so hard to win this fight.
Words fail. I bet those pensions for them making decisions are well looked after.
The justice system is appalling in this country. We deserved so much to win.

Please please let there be justice today we have fought so long and so hardi hope the judges are in our favour have just got my pension on 6th July 2020 I stop work 2yrs ago I have long term arthritis and fib myalgia and had heart attack in 2011 that left me with angina and I think it unfare that people going over the 60 pension age they should be retiring at 60 its shocking and let the younger generation get jobs thank yous for all your hard work very much appreciated

It’s extremely disappointing to hear that back to 60 have lost there appeal court case,I personally never thought they would win on a discrimination claim especially as men had to work until the age of 65 now raised too 66 like women’s. I think they would have been more successful if they had taken the government to court for fraud then it would have been more successful because they would of had to explain where the missing funds went and what they were used for.
If you can’t convince three judges that this was discrimination then it is going to be even more difficult to convince 11 judges at the Supreme Court.
I do support the Back to 60 and all other campaign groups because I also am a 1950s women being denied my pension but I think we now have to accept that we have to wait until we are 66 until we are able to get it.
Also I thought that Full restitution was to big an ask even though we have been paying in since we were 15, personally it would be better to just have asked for pensions to be payable and not Full Restitution.
That’s 2 court cases now lost even though we were granted the appeal on all grounds,something doesn’t sound right here perhaps somebody could explain.

Like Anne Widdecombe said put up and shut up. That is the mentality of our government. Shocking behaviour by people that line their own pockets. MPs expenses never did hear that they paid back what they stole. But us women who are we?

I don’t think we should give up. There is an appeal system. The problem is people give up at the first hurdle. That’s what the government want us to do act like sheep. We must fight on. Nicola Sturgen will increase the pension by almost half when we become independent. She will definitely get my vote. I was all to good to b true. We must keep fighting.

I’m disgusted with tory government fullstop hes a theatre mp his scruffy hair? i’m 64 heart pacemaker.high bp.depression forced to go out to work!! i used to look after my grandchildren for nothing the amount of money us grannys saved them? when us waspi ladys started labour government would have sorted it, when elected johnson said we will see what we can do! another lie. then we were turned down again, not enough money, funny how they have found billions in this pandemic???? then health secretary all of a sudden says grandparents are excempt from new restrictions??? never vote conservative they are about money not their people. labour does both people first!!!! all i ask my pace is nearing its end lets us 50s ladys enjoy wwhat time we have jane
